Canada Happenings

Gregg Hinzelman is a good friend and co-laborer – who is leading to make it happen in the frozen north of Canada (Ontario to be specific). This is an update from him from January – but it is good stuff on prayer, setting goals, acting according to what is essential – in this case – evangelism. Go Gregg (and Ontario Cru).

- Queen’s just held a “Does God Exist?” debate with 1200 in attendance (the room can seat 900). They had to turn away about 200 people who couldn’t fit in. The next day, following on the momentum of this event, Robyn, one of our staff, went out sharing with a Queen’s student, and had a girl trust Christ with them.

- At York, staff member Wendy and her students (two of whom came to faith in the fall) helped organize a Jesus video giveaway for Chinese students for Chinese New Year. They gave away 80 videos during the day, and had 50 of these Chinese students sign up to join them for a dinner they hosted this week, where they will had a chance to talk further with them.

- At Waterloo and Guelph, Michael Horner spoke at 8 different smaller, targeted outreaches – several in dorms, and others in various faculties. The events averaged about 30 people each, so over 200 people heard the gospel in smaller groups, which is fantastic! I expect we will be hearing about a flurry of these types of outreaches in the weeks ahead.

We continue to pray that God will allow us to see 130 people come to faith during these 130 days of classes. Today is day 82 of 130 class days. So far, from what I have heard, we have seen 108 students come to faith.

Praise God for what He is doing on the campuses.

By the way – they hit the goal of 130 students. I believe the latest total was 152. Go God.
